These Are the Coolest Sneakers of 2016 (So Far)

From Qasa highs to Jordan lows, the best kicks that dropped this year.

Air Jordan x OVO 10 Black

No stranger to the sneaker world, Drake has taken his partnership Jordan Brand and run with it to create a collection of collaborative sneakers. The best of the bunch is the black colorway of his "OVO" Jordan 10. It features black leather, black faux-stingray details, and an icy outsole with flecks of gold. These are long gone but you can still pick them up—at a premium—if you know where to look.

Vans x C2H4 x Pros Old Skool "Re-Blue Project"

Vans' Old Skool is a classic, but it's also not for everyone. This ultra luxe version of the skate shoe created as a three-way collaboration between Vans, C3H4, and Pros brings expectations to a whole new level. A veritable patchwork of denims, with the human touch of homemade construction and midsole painting, makes for a look that's on par with the increased price tag rarely seen on a pair of Vans.

Adidas x Wood Wood Ultra Boost

The Adidas Ultra Boost has been something of an "it" shoe for the last two years, inspiring every creative mind to create their own version of it. Wood Wood teamed up with the Three Stripes to create a women's version of the sneaker that eschews the traditional lacing system in a unique way that's definitely unlike anything you've ever seen. (Remember to size up 1.5.)

Nike LunarEpic Low Flyknit Women's "ULTD"

Every now and then Nike blesses us with a new multicolored Flyknit pair of kicks and it's always worth the wait. This year the ladies got the best of the bunch ahead of the Olympics, but the good news is you can wear the bright colorway, too. Just add 1.5 to your regular size and cop. You'll be the best laced at the party.

Adidas x Rick Owens Mastodon

Rick Owens is a modern style icon, using his distinct taste to re-contextualize shapes in the menswear sphere. But that new context comes with a price that is just out of reach for most consumers. His ongoing collaboration with Adidas has offered space for his fans to grab shoes in his aesthetic for way less, but the Mastadons are as true to his OG sneakers as we've seen. Incredible leathers comprise the Pro Model upper, which sits on a thick and heavy Owens sole—making the Mastadons a must have for any fan.

New Balance x Sneaker Freaker 997.5 "Tassie Tiger"

The list of truly iconic New Balance collaborations is pretty short, but the battle for the top spot includes Sneaker Freaker 's "Tassie Devil," a 998 that made the world sigh. The Australian magazine teamed up with New Balance again this year on the spiritual sister to that original shoe, the "Tassie Tiger." We couldn't have hoped for a better passing of the torch.
